2009 Stampede Breakfast, Sunday, July 5

The 3rd Annual Temple Stampede Breakfast was a rip-roaring success and what an awesome turn-out!  Over 400 people took in this year's stampede breakfast - WOW!  This event couldn't have been successful without the generosity of the community, the kind donations, and all the wonderful performers as well as the terrific volunteer cowpokes! Thanks to everyone who were able to mosey-on-down!  Click on the small photo below to enlarge

Taiko at the breakfast

Calgary Buddhist Temple Stampede Breakfast held Sunday, July 8, 2007

With a few thousand marathon runners going by as we set up for our first ever pancake breakfast and, with the rhythm of the Midnight Taiko drummers urging them and us on, we soon had everything in full swing. Nervously keeping one eye skyward as grey clouds covered us, fortune stayed with us as very warm temperatures kept it pleasant for everyone.

Three local young performers sang and played a variety of music for everyone to enjoy while they ate great tasting pancakes and sausages cooked up by some of the finest volunteers in all of Alberta! About 250 strangers, friends, family and members came to try our Buddhist hospitality and we think our breakfast reflected the true stampede spirit that Calgary is famous for. Several people went in to view the temple and Ikuta Sensei, as always, was there to answer questions and help introduce Buddhism to potential new members.

To all the volunteers who helped organize, setup, cook, clean, and do a variety of jobs too many to mention, a big Calgary YAHOO, and THANK YOU, for making this event so special and fun!
