2010 Alberta Buddhist Conference - October 29-31, 2010
The 32nd Annual Alberta Buddhist Conference (ABC) will be held during the same time period as the Calgary Buddhist Film Series as well as in conjunction with the Alberta District 750th Shinran Shonin Memorial Commemoration - definitely a busy weekend!
Conference is open to the Public - Registration is Required (deadline is Oct 15) Cost is $60/person for the entire conference including banquet or $30/person for banquet only.
ABC and 750th Shinran Commemoration - General Program & Hotel Information:
Friday, Oct 29 – 6-6:30pm: Registration; 6:30pm: Film and/or Social at the Calgary Public Library Main Branch (John Dutton Theatre) - 616 Macleod Trail SE, Calgary
Saturday, Oct 30 – 9-9:30am: Registration; 9:30am: speakers, a variety of break-out sessions and films at the Calgary Public Library (children and youth programs are in the works!)
Banquet – 6:00pm: Cash Bar and meal at Regency Restaurant (China Town)
Sunday, Oct 31 – 9:30am: Sarana Ceremony; 10:30am: Service and lunch to follow at the Temple
Hotel – Rooms are held at the Delta Bow Valley in Calgary - 209-4th Avenue SE, 403-266-1980 or 1-800-665-8571. The Group code is GCHBUDDHIST (Calgary Buddhist Temple) to receive the special rate of $129 + taxes / night plus $11 for parking underground. 2009 Alberta Buddhist Conference
The 31st annual Alberta Buddhist Conference (ABC) will be held at the new Buddhist Temple of Southern Alberta in Lethbridge, AB on Nov 13, 14 and 15, 2009. Main speaker will be Rev Ken Yamada, the resident minister of the Berkeley, California Higashi Hongwanji Temple. This year's theme, "Dharma Energy - Tranquility" (translated as Yasuragi in Japanese), attempts to capture the renewed strength embodied in a new building and sangha to emphasize Buddhist serenity, peace and gratitude.
