JSBTC
The Calgary Temple is honored to be a part of the Jodo Shinshu
Buddhist Temples of Canada (JSBTC) who are a group of Canadians that are
followers of the Jodo Shinshu "Shin" sect of Buddhism.
The JSBTC is affiliated with the
Nishi Hongwanji of Kyoto, Japan, the mother temple of the Jodo Shinshu
(True Pure Land) sect of Buddhism. The sect follows the teachings of Shinran
Shonin (1173 - 1262). It is a teaching wherein we are endowed with the
ultimate goal of Enlightenment symbolized as the Pure Land. Also know as
Shin Buddhism.
JSBTCWF
The woman within the JSBTC are also actively
involved in a collective group known as the Jodo Shinshu Buddhist Temples of
Canada Women's Federation (JSBTCWF). Current initiative is the hosting
of the 15th World Buddhist Women's Convention in 2015 in Calgary, AB.
